MURALS ARE ABOUT COMMUNITY

There was 10 years in my career when I created murals in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Arizona and North Carolina. The collection dearest to my heart are the 10 foot murals in the halls of Cedarbrook Alzheimer’s Unit in Bethlehem Pa. My dad was a resident there and I had noticed a strong need for visuals to blanket the dull wallpaper these wonderful aging people looked at everyday. I painted Fred Astaire to Larry Holmes. The walls came alive with memories, breathing smiles into the staff and residents.

We Were There mural was second to my heart. A group from www.loveoutloudws.com took 2 trips to DC with 100 Veterans from all wars loaded on a bus off to see the memorials in honor of them.

Much of my mural work is executed in the privacy of my own studio. I apply the primer and paint to a mural cloth ( used in Philadelphia murals) and later adhere the cloth direct to the walls. The result is not only better than applying paint direct to the wall but adds a long lasting vibrant stay to the paint.
